Fall Book Review 002: The Witch of Willow Hall

Hey friends! It has been quite a while since I have wrote a book review. I finally got into the “reading mood” this fall and finished a few new book finds for me. This is a book that I could not put down and read in just three days. If you are looking for a good book to put you in the halloween mood; this is it. This was a book that was recommended to me a few years back by Caitlin Covington of Southern Curls & Pearls Blog. I added this immediately to my cart back in 2023 and finally read it this month.

This book is set in Boston, Massachusetts in 1821, a few decades after the Salem Witch Trials. A father with three daughters moves his family out of Boston due to some salacious rumors that is causing business to go down for his father. When moving to the small town the eldest daughter meets her fathers young business partner who seems cold and distant from the beginning.
The oldest daughter Lydia and her sister Catherine are both fighting for his attention while Lydias' ex-fiance is trying to win back her love. The family has many secrets that are starting to unravel and the truth is getting tangled with the gossip.
While reading this book I was thrown into the world and I was speaking to the book as if I could actually talk to the characters and influence what their choices were. Not many books can do this to me; and I was pleasantly surprised with how quick of a read it was. There were of course a few characters that annoyed me and got under my skin, but that made the book even better. I would highly recommend this if you want a book that keeps you on your toes, has some romance sprinkled in, and has the historical and small town charm.
